Primer is a BaseOne product. We have spent more than twenty years in project controls and reporting, and we built Primer because the tools we used never agreed with each other.
Why we built Primer
On every big programme we worked on, the schedule lived in P6, the cost in spreadsheets and finance systems, the risks in another tool and the contract in yet another. Every month, people spent days making the numbers agree, and the board still saw different versions of the truth.
Primer started as Primer for Fabric: a P6 data warehouse with Power BI reports, installed in the customer's own Microsoft Fabric. Customers asked for more than reports, so we built a scheduling engine that matches P6, then put cost, risk, NEC4 contracts and governance on the same links.
The team
The people who build Primer have worked as:
- planners and planning leads on P6
- project controls managers on large UK programmes
- cost and commercial managers on NEC contracts
- data engineers on Microsoft Fabric and Power BI
- designers and software engineers
We work across energy and grid, water, rail, nuclear and infrastructure.
